oh my! what a weekend

We had a four day weekend and we couldn't have asked for a better one.  We had our first visitor of the season - my friend Susan from NYC.  Here's a recap of all the fun we had.

Friday Sean and I got ready for the big weekend.  Susan didn't come in until 11:00 pm.  Once she got here we quickly went back to Camp, checked out the dock and headed to bed.

Saturday we got up and Sean made us breakfast.  We then headed to the dock to catch some rays.  After getting a nice tan we cleaned up and headed to Southwest Harbor for dinner at Fiddler's Green and a little sightseeing.  None of us had been to Southwest Harbor before (well Sean had in grade school or something so that doesn't really count).  We weren't sure how busy traffic was going to be considering it's Maine, it's by Bar Harbor, it's summer, a holiday weekend and AMAZING weather.  It really wasn't bad and we left so early we had time for looking around.

I want to live at this house!

for mom - I made it a point to let Sean take a picture for once (this is Susan and me)

the root of a tree that had fallen over!

We happened upon a light house.  A marine family lives at this one all year round!

We checked out the sea wall - so picturesque!

and put our piggers in the ocean - BRRRR!

Sunday we got up and Susan, Duke and I kayaked over to the Island to explore.

On the way over we noticed the Loons.  They had a baby with them which is very rare.  They only lay 2 eggs a year and the past 4 years the eagles or something else has gotten the babies.  So we're very fortunate to have two loon families on the pond - each with a baby!

look how huge those birds are

Here are some of the great finds we made on the island.

By the time we got back to the dock it was time to catch more rays and for people to come over to swim with us.

isn't she the cutest?  she was our flower girl last summer

duke was glad to have someone to play ball with him (or rather help him get the ball out of the water when it's out too far)

Sean cooked us up some scallops and then it was time for the lobsters!

I can't even touch them alive

We took a sunset boat cruise to watch the fireworks.  We then had a bonfire and our own sparklers.

Monday Sean's friends Chris & Sarah stopped by with their baby Isla.  The day consisted of more lounging on the dock.  I think the dock was the best investment ever!  Not only did it support the best wedding ever (even if I do say so myself) but now is hosting a lot of summer fun.  Duke even had some guests stop by - Cooper & Daisy.

all smiles and giggles the whole time they were here

this is cooper - and yes he retrieves both of the tennis balls at the same time

Then it was time for everyone to leave.  It was nice to have it nice and quiet and to ourselves in the evening but sad to see everyone go too.  Thanks to everyone that stopped by and celebrated with us.  Come back any time and SOON!  Did I mention it was like 90 here?  I know those of you in Texas are like "if only" but for up here that's stinkin' hot and we don't have AC!!!

It was the best 4th holiday break though.  I hope you had as much fun as we did!
