cuban night

Once a month we get together for Supper Club.  Each month has a different theme and everyone brings a dish that represents the theme.  This month was "Cuban Night".  When I read this I was like "what the heck???  I have no idea what Cuban food is!"  Luckily Jennifer (who's husband is Cuban) sent us a link to a site with lots of Cuban recipes.

http://www.tasteofcuba.com/cubanrecipes.html

I quickly scanned it and when I saw Tres Leches on there I was sold.  I know it's not technically Cuban but it was on the site and I've been wanting an excuse to make it for so long.  This was my excuse.

Look how beautiful it turned out!  Yes, I know - don't put a white cake on a white plate - it's what I had, people.

It was so much fun to make, too.  You should try it - not diet friendly though - here's a quick link directly to the recipe (click here).

The kids were all about getting into things.  Look at these guilty faces.  Duke was a pain and most likely will not be going back.

A new marketing idea?  Necklace for two - hmmm - maybe not.

There was also a little gymnastics happening - I'm so excited all the girls are into my favorite sport.  It will give me an outlet to teach again.

What would you have made for Cuban night?

Next month, Colonial Williamsburg - ideas anyone???  I'm completely lost here!!!

vacay recap: outtakes

Back in high school Amy and I were cheerleaders together - yea, funny, I know.  With that we just couldn't pass up a cheerleading photo session with the boys.  Check out that form!!!

As this is the final vacay recap post I thought it would be appropriate to show you all the outtakes from the trip.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did living them.

vacay recap: side trip

While Amy and Craig headed off back to Kansas, Sean and I took a day trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico on the way back to Texas.  We've flown through there before but never stopped to check it out.  We'll totally go back.  The architecture is amazing but we weren't there long enough to see all we wanted to.  These are my favorite pictures from our day trip to Old San Juan.

can you spot the little lizard?

See the yellow building in the middle?  It's on record as the thinnest building ever.
This tourism building used to be the prison.  Notice how it's outside the city wall?  They did that so if anyone escaped they couldn't get into the city.

vacay recap: freaky love

Only a couple more posts about the vacation and you'll be totally up to speed on all our doings.

We saw a bunch of freaky things while we were there.  Anywhere from the tallest tree to the oldest tree to animals (ok so not that freaky) to random things made in the sand (not by us, I promise).

Of course while we were in paradise we spent time loving our spouses.  How could you not?!?!

vacay recap: seeing the sights

While we were on our vacation we were able to see a lot of sights, too.  I even found an entry way to an accounting office.  Here are some of my favorite pics from touring around.

We also did some additional traveling around - boat and car.  These are my favorite pictures from those adventures.
