starting the morning off right

i'm not a morning person - ask anyone
i can probably count the number of times i've been up before the sun on one hand
but ever since i realized the top of cadillac mountain was the first place to see the sunrise in the u.s. i wanted to go

enter problem - in the summer the sun comes up before 4 am up there

and with getting there before the sun rises and driving we may as well not go to sleep
so i was convinced it was never going to happen

until our lovely friend came to visit for the bar harbor marathon
which gave us an excuse to stay the night much closer to cadillac mountain

so i finally got to see it!!!

for all you regular visitors of ours - or anyone visiting maine...

you must put this on your list
you will not be disappointed!!!

oh, and if you wait until the fall the sun sleeps in (but bring gloves and a coat - it gets chilly up there!)

i know i need some serious practice with sunrise photography but seeing what amazing beauty i've been missing out on by sleeping in may give me some motivation to get up early and practice - or not!
