the race to the water

it happens every year
the momma turtles head up to the neighbors garden
to lay their eggs
and a few full moons later
the hatchlings are born

and race to the water
we always catch the mommas going through our yard
to get to the egg laying spot
but had never caught the babies
making their way back to the water
UNTIL NOW!!!

and just to give you perspective
on how small they really are

and in case you're wondering
duke only sniffed it
as far as i know this little guy made it to the water safely
