selfie september (aka birthday month celebration) - day 1

it's that time of year again
the big birthday month!
since it's not a "major" birthday like last year
i expect it to be fairly quiet - comparatively
also, in honor of my attempt to take a picture a day for a whole year
(which i've failed at miserably)
i'm going to show you my birthday month celebration
in pictures this year
one a day, depicting my celebration - selfie style
so let the selfies begin!

lobster, lobster, lobster

there are two things maine is not lacking in
cute little coastal towns

and lobster

now combine the two

and you have the best festival idea!

they even have lobster trap races

you won't go away hungry
in the least
checkout how much lobster they went through this year

in case you're not into lobster (freak!)
there's a little something for you, too

i enjoyed all the eats
and local crafts
and of course making my men pose for silly pictures!

happy 5 years to us!

we made it!
FIVE whole years!

and to celebrate
we had a wine dinner

on our dock with some of our friends
four courses

four different wines

or beer...for those that can't handle their wine

the case of the disappearing hastas

our gardens have really been neglected this year
we pretty much haven't done anything

except throw some mulch on them
they're bare

and sad
but we have a lot of hastas

and they require no maintenance
and just keep coming back for more

so imagine our surprise when several of our hastas
started to disappear

our sad gardens got even more sad
but our biggest surprise was the culprit...

twin fawns!!!
one morning sean woke me up early

and i got to see them nursing!!!
it was the most beautiful thing!

oh, and we've had a bear visit us...
multiple times!

fun and fear

another fun thing to do in maine
when people come to visit

or with local friends
is to go whitewater rafting

i actually use the word "fun" loosely
i've been before

and we did have a blast

but i'm deathly afraid of falling out
so this trip i served as the unofficial photographer

but all their surfing sure looked fun
so perhaps i'll join them next time....
or not
